Why you'd want to live in Hampton
Welcome to Hampton, Georgia - where history has a future! Established in 1873, our city is one of much tradition and history, but also incorporates change. Its 100+ year old Train Depot, listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, is frequently rented for weddings, birthday parties, and other events. The recently renovated downtown features sidewalks with custom engraved bricks and renovated facades and buildings. Hampton is home to over 5,000 people (except twice a year when the Atlanta Motor Speedway holds NASCAR races and it becomes the 8th largest city in Georgia!) A former textile mill was converted to lofts; there are many historic homes and oak-lined streets in the area. Our annual events include the Yellow Pollen Street Festival in March, the Bear Creek Festival each September, along with the Christmas Tree Lighting and Christmas-at-Home parade with live reindeer. Recently added to our activities are several geocaching sites around town. via exploregeorgia.org
